Student Teaching

Student teaching is the culminating experience of the Teacher Education degree program. This experience is carefully designed to allow teacher candidates opportunities to utilize the skills acquired through their course work and field experiences.

Student teaching is the part of the teacher preparation program which enables prospective teachers to synthesize and apply their accumulated knowledge, moving from theory to practice under the supervision of experienced, licensed teachers.

BPS Student Teacher Placement Schedule

To student teach during the fall semester, the following dates apply:

  • March 1 — Student teacher applications due at Bismarck Public Schools. At this time all applications will be reviewed and considered for placement.
  • April 15 — Notification of placements sent to colleges.

Any applications received after March 1 will be processed as openings become available.

To student teach during the spring semester, the following dates apply:

  • October 15 — Student teacher applications due at Bismarck Public Schools.
  • December 1 — Notification of placements will be sent to appropriate colleges.

Any applications received after October 15 will be processed as openings become available.
